These terms apply to participants in a step challenge run on Stride League: the Stride League apps for iPhone and Android, the participant web interface at my.strideleague.com, and the registration pages at strideleague.com (together, the service). By registering, by entering an invite code, or by using the service, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Stringbet Software, LLC (Stringbet, we, us) provides the software: the apps, the web interface, and the servers that collect step counts and compute standings.
Each challenge is run by an organizer, the organization named on the registration page and in the app. The organizer sets the challenge's dates, rules, team sizes, divisions, prices, prizes and refund policy, decides who may participate, and answers questions about the event. Stringbet is not a party to the arrangement between you and the organizer and does not award, fund or guarantee any prize.
You must be 18 or older. You confirm this when you set up the app or the web interface. You must provide your real first and last name; it is visible to the organizer and used to identify you in the event. You may hold one account per challenge. You may not use the service on behalf of another person.
You join a challenge with an invite code. A code is issued by the organizer, or by the registration page after payment, and works once. Codes are not transferable.
Where the organizer charges for registration, payment is made through Stripe to the organizer's own account. The organizer is the seller. Refunds are decided by the organizer under the organizer's policy; ask the organizer. A refunded registration's code stops working. Stringbet does not hold your payment and cannot issue a refund on the organizer's behalf.
Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. A password for the web interface, a six-digit sign-in code, and a set-up or reset link each identify you; anything done with them is treated as done by you. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
The service reads your daily step count from Apple Health on iPhone or from Health Connect on Android, with your permission, and uploads it to our servers. Where the organizer allows it, you may also enter steps or activities by hand. Entries must be truthful. Entering steps you did not take, running the app on a device that is not yours, or otherwise manipulating step counts is a breach of these terms.
Step counts depend on your phone, its operating system, any wearable or fitness app that writes to it, and its permission and battery settings. We do not guarantee that a count is accurate, that every day is recorded, or that a sync happens at any particular time. The organizer can see your daily totals and whether your phone is syncing, and may decide questions about a participant's steps under the challenge rules.
Standings are computed by our servers from the step data received and are provisional at all times during the challenge. They change as late data arrives. Results become final at noon, in the challenge's time zone, on the day after the challenge's last day. After that point further uploads change nothing. Scoring rules (daily caps, averaging, team divisions) are set for each challenge and applied by the server; the organizer may change them during the challenge, in which case standings are recomputed.
The organizer decides the outcome of the event, including ties, disputes, prizes and any disqualification. Stringbet's role is limited to computing standings from the data received under the rules the organizer set.
A team's captain may rename the team, hand the captaincy to another member and, where the organizer allows it, remove a member. The organizer may move a participant between teams and may remove a participant from a team. When you leave or are removed from a team, the steps you recorded while a member stay with that team for the period of your membership.
The service includes a team thread, one-to-one messages between people who have agreed to be friends, a challenge photo wall, and announcements and sponsor posts from the organizer. Before your first message you agree to the messaging terms shown in the app; they are part of these terms. You may not send threats, harassment or abuse; hateful or sexual content; anything illegal or anything you do not have the right to share; spam or advertising; or a photo you did not take, may not share, or that shows a person who has not agreed to it.
You keep ownership of what you post. You grant Stringbet and the organizer a license to store, display and transmit it within the challenge, and to remove it, for as long as the challenge and its thirty-day wind-down last. Messages and photos are deleted thirty days after the challenge's last day.
Any participant can block any other and report any message or photo. Reports go to the organizer, with Stringbet as backstop. The organizer may remove any message or photo and may suspend a participant's messaging. Stringbet may do the same.
Messaging, the photo wall, announcements and sponsor posts close thirty days after the challenge's last day.
The organizer may show posts from the challenge's sponsors in the app, labeled as such. Sponsors receive no data about participants. A sponsor post is the sponsor's statement, not ours; any offer in it is between you and the sponsor. You can turn sponsor posts off in the app's Settings and report any post.
The organizer may suspend your messaging or remove you from a team under the challenge rules. Stringbet may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, manipulate step data, misuse the service, or if the law requires it. Where practical we will say why.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app or on the web. Deletion removes your step records, team membership, messages, photos, friendships, goals and registration record. It does not refund a registration; see section 3. Deleting the app without deleting the account stops collection but leaves your data until the retention periods in the privacy policy run.
Stringbet grants you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the apps and the web interface for participating in a challenge. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or interfere with the service, probe its servers, or access another participant's data. The iPhone app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; the Android app is distributed through Google Play under its terms. Apple and Google are not responsible for the service and have no obligation to provide support for it.
We aim to keep the service available throughout each challenge but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, and may require an app update to continue. A challenge may be cancelled or altered by its organizer.
The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, Stringbet disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and does not warrant that step counts, standings or results are accurate, complete or timely. The service is not medical advice and is not a medical device. Decide for yourself whether an activity is safe for you.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stringbet is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for lost prizes, lost data or lost opportunity, arising from the service or from a challenge, and Stringbet's total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for registration or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; where they apply, they apply to the extent permitted.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by contacting us will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Changes appear at this address with an updated date. A change that affects a running challenge is announced in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. This page is the canonical location of the Stride League terms of use.
